Son of LeBron James will play for USC

Bronny James has made his college decision: The oldest son of LeBron James is headed to the University of Southern California.

James made his announcement on Instagram Saturday, saying “Fight On” and “#committed” with a photo of him in the USC locker room.

At Sierra Canyon High in Los Angeles, James averaged 14 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game his senior season, according to Sportsmanor

James’ recruitment has been closely followed all year, partially because there have been questions about just how good the 6-foot-3 guard is. Though the four-star prospect was invited to the McDonald’s All America game in March, his inclusion sparked debate

His play spoke for itself, though. James scored 15 points, on all 3s, and helped his team stay close in a 109-106 loss. At the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Oregon, on April 8, James scored 11 points, hitting a couple key shots late as Team USA pulled away for a 90-84 win. Dad LeBron sat courtside during the game, which was Bronny’s USA Basketball debut.

James will remain close to home, playing his home games not far from where his father LeBron suits up for the Lakers. LeBron James has one more year on his contract with the Lakers, with an option for another season in 2024-25. He has expressed a desire to play in the league with his son Bronny.
