Pat Riley Sends A Harsh Message To Jimmy Butler

Unlike last season, when the eighth-seeded Miami Heat were able to go the distance to make the NBA Finals, Erik Spoelstra’s squad fell short in the NBA playoffs, with the Boston Celtics coming out on top in five games in the first round.

Unfortunately for Miami, the team was unable to get superstar Jimmy Butler on the basketball court for the series, which was a game-changer because the outcome might’ve been much different had he been playing.

Even though Butler was unable to overcome his injury and get back on the floor to take on the Celtics, he was still quite vocal, which didn’t exactly rub team president Pat Riley the right way.

“For him to say that, I thought, is that Jimmy trolling or is that Jimmy serious? If you’re not on the court playing against Boston or the Knicks, you should keep your mouth shut in your criticism of those teams,” Riley said.

One thing with Butler is he’s always going to speak his mind even if that might not be the wisest thing to do, which clearly seemed to happen here.

Although Riley wasn’t fond of the comments that Butler made during the playoffs, it doesn’t seem as though he wants to move on from the veteran superstar, as he was asked if he’d trade him this summer and shot that down quickly.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Heat do during the NBA offseason in order to right the ship, as it may be time to shake things up in order to remain in contention in the Eastern Conference moving forward.
