Meet the chef who chefs for the French President

Within the gilded halls of the Palais de l’Élysée, grasp sommelier Carlton McCoy meets chef de partie Francis Oge — the person tasked with feeding French President Emmanuel Macron.

Oge, who has served 4 presidents, is a grasp of excellent eating. From his delicately pinstriped mille-feuille to his sculptural red meat Wellingtons, precision and style are nonnegotiable in Oge’s kitchen.

“The home does not paintings like a normal eating place or common resort,” he stated. “That is the primary area of France, and we’re like a show for the sector.”

His delicate and classical taste is a type of cooking that has reasonably dwindled away in fashionable France. “What I have spotted is lots of the giant cooks you spot these days, they’re influenced via their grandmother or their mom. And me, I do not need the similar trail,” stated Oge, who’s a first-generation immigrant.

He moved to Paris from Africa together with his mom at 9 years previous and grew up within the town’s suburbs. “If you find yourself a child, you’ve got desires,” he instructed McCoy in an episode of the CNN unique sequence Nomad. “Even supposing I will’t succeed in it, I’ve attempted.”
