The Detroit Lions have been one of the most courageous teams under head coach Dan Campbell as they’ve gone for the win when conventional teams would settle for conservative plays.
It wasn’t a shock to see Campbell decide to go for the win in Week 17 against the Dallas Cowboys when the Lions marched downfield and scored a touchdown to make it 20-19.
Campbell called for Detroit to go for a two-point conversion and the play call was genius as Jared Goff found offensive lineman Taylor Decker in the end zone.
For a moment, it looked like the Lions stole a victory on the road but officials ruled that there was an ineligible receiver downfield that touched a pass and the two-point try was called back.
Campbell was angry in his postgame presser and for good reason, it felt like Detroit was robbed.
Afterward, John Parry tried to explain the situation and what may have happened via ESPN.

Parry believes that Decker and official Brad Allen never connected which is why he was ruled as an ineligible receiver on the play.
Campbell said that he had emphasized to both of his linemen to ensure they checked in with the official before the football was snapped, and it appears there was some sort of miscommunication between Decker and Allen.
In the clip, it looks like Decker walks up to Allen to let him know he is reporting, but the latter doesn’t seem to register what’s happening.
It’s a tough pillow to swallow for Lions fans to lose a game like that, but unfortunately they have no choice but to move on and focus on Week 18.
