College Football Recruiting Notebook: March 22, 2024

(USA TODAY)

Nick Saban’s exit after the Rose Bowl loss to Michigan kicked off a domino effect of sorts in Tuscaloosa, with top recruits and current players splitting for other programs.

It created a tricky entrance for new head coach Kalen DeBoer, who takes over for a guy who had so much clout that actual humans did stories about the fact he had an automatic door to his office -one that Saban could close from the ease of his desk. What a guy.

But this is still Alabama, one of the grandest football pastures in the land. The Tide are ranked second in 2024 recruiting rankings race by 247Sports and currently sit at No. 8 for the 2025 haul.

And one 2025 recruit who made news this past week is helping prove the argument that Alabama will be a-OK. While Abduall Sanders Jr. only has three mythical stars instead of four or even-gasp-five, he’s an absolute talent on the field. He is an athlete who has lined up against perennial programs in the Southern California area, and held the position with such prowess that even casual spectators could differentiate his actions from others.

Now, he’s headed to Alabama in 2025. Not Ohio State, who offered, nor Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Washington, or even Notre Dame.

Not bad, Coach DeBoer. Not bad at all. Add in the Kadyn Proctor Chronicles and yourself have a regular ol’ contender afoot.
