After an incredibly disappointing 2023 NFL season following a successful 2022 campaign, the New York Giants head into this NFL offseason with plans to right the ship under head coach Brian Daboll.

However, this will be no easy task for the storied NFL franchise, with plenty of teams around the league posing a threat to steal running back Saquon Barkley in free agency while also making it difficult for New York to upgrade their roster in free agency.

Although all the attention right now is on Barkley, where he might land, the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, and whether this team will pursue a quarterback to replace Daniel Jones, there are some other areas of concern this offseason.

One of those areas is the secondary, and if the team can retain cornerback Xavier McKinney, who made it clear on Twitter that he’s taking time to clear his mind, which might mean he’s exploring his options.

In the 17 games he played for the Giants last season, McKinney recorded three interceptions, 11 passes defensed, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and 78 solo tackles.

With numbers like these, McKinney will definitely have some interested teams calling him when he’s a free agent, and that could mean he’s already got one foot out of the door if he desires to win and win now.

Although it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Giants can turn things around next season, McKinney might get some intriguing offers that he can’t turn down, especially if that team is closer to contending.
