The Washington Commanders have gone through a lot of change over the past several years.

Their name has been up in the air for a few seasons, the ownership has changed, and their roster has seemingly been a revolving door.

Plus, after the team’s performance in 2023, the front office decided to clean house, hiring a brand-new coaching staff.

Dan Quinn is the Commanders’ new head coach, and Kliff Kingsbury is their new offensive coordinator.

This pairing could work well together, as Zach Ertz noted in a recent segment of the Pat McAfee Show.

Ertz recently signed with the Commanders, saying, “I’m extremely excited to play for Kliff Kingsbury and Dan Quinn.”

He also said, “It’s gonna be fun to get back on the East Coast.”

Ertz spent the first eight years of his NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles and later joined the Arizona Cardinals. He then had a brief stint with the Lions this past season.

He seems excited to return to the East Coast and contribute to an NFC East team, which will give him a chance to play against his old club twice in 2024.

Besides the new coaching regime and the built-in rivalry with his former team, joining the Commanders could be an opportunity for Ertz to help a young quarterback thrive in his rookie campaign.

The Commanders currently have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and many expect them to take a quarterback.

Assuming they take a quarterback with this selection, it will be interesting to see what the team looks like this year and if Ertz can be a meaningful contributor alongside him.
