Chiefs’ Kelce returns from ankle injury vs. Vikings

Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce returned from a non-contact ankle injury midway through the third quarter against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The team announced Kelce was questionable to return earlier in the third quarter after suffering the injury late in the second quarter.

Kelce made a highlight-reel catch during his first drive back in the game.

Late in the second quarter, Kelce fell to the field after catching a pass from Patrick Mahomes before limping off. He threw his helmet down on the sideline and went to the locker room before the half came to an end.

The CBS broadcast said Kelce was going for X-rays on his foot before the first half.

Kelce returned to the sideline with his foot and ankle wrapped for the start of the second half. He was trying to shake off the injury by doing high steps on the sideline.

Kelce is an eight-time Pro Bowler and a four-time first-team All-Pro. He has helped the Chiefs win two Super Bowls.

Kelce’s star has risen in recent weeks after Taylor Swift attended the Chiefs’ past two games to watch the six-foot-five Westlake, Ohio native.

Swift was not in attendance on Sunday in Minnesota, the CBS broadcast reported.
