The San Francisco Giants have become one of baseball’s most exciting young teams.

One player in particular who is drawing rave reviews is rookie catcher Patrick Bailey.

The 24-year-old is hitting .267 with six home runs and 38 RBI.

He also is reaching base at a .314 clip while slugging .422 and posting an OPS of .736.

Bailey’s Giants teammates are certainly impressed with him.

On Monday, Giants right-hander Ross Stripling talked on the podcast “Foul Territory” about his relationship with Bailey and what the young catcher has been able to do for the Giants this year ever since he was called up to the Major Leagues back in May.

Stripling praised Bailey for his professionalism and the way that he has been able to take on the heavy workload of a catcher at such a young age.

The veteran right-hander compared it to an NFL quarterback.

Catchers are obviously expected to know a lot about each individual pitcher, and it’s a constant work in progress to fine tune things and make adjustments if need be.

Catchers also have to know about opposing lineups and certain tendencies that opposing hitters may have.

But Stripling is certainly impressed by what Bailey has been able to accomplish so far in his young career.

Stripling also compared Bailey’s emergence to that of Adley Rutschman last year, who made his Major League debut for the young, upstart Baltimore Orioles.

He even revealed that veterans such as Alex Cobb and Logan Webb, who typically called their own games before Bailey’s debut, have now given the young catcher plenty of leeway to guide them through their starts.
