2024 can’t come soon enough for the St. Louis Cardinals and their fans.

The team is having a historically bad season, the likes of which hasn’t taken place since the 1990s.

On Sunday, things only continued to get worse as they dropped an excruciating 1-0 game against the Colorado Rockies, and in turn lost the series.

One thing in particular that has plagued the team has been their performance in one-run games.

With Sunday afternoon’s loss, the Cardinals dropped to 9-23 on the season in one-run games.

On Twitter, a fan took note of the team’s poor record in one-run games, and stated that at this point, it isn’t simply bad luck.

The Cardinals find themselves 15 games under the .500 mark as they head to Tropicana Field to take on the Tampa Bay Rays.

St. Louis has finished above .500 in each of their last 15 seasons, reaching the postseason 10 times.

The last time the Cardinals finished below the .500 mark was 2007, when they finished with a 78-84 record on the heels of their 2006 World Series championship.

But with August now underway, the Cardinals have eclipsed 60 losses before even reaching 50 wins.

The team now owns the second-worst record in the National League.

At this point, their record in such games can no longer be attributed to bad luck, as this fan pointed out.

The Cardinals are 9.5 games behind the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds for the final Wild Card spot in the National League, and it’s going to take a run similar to what took place in 2011 for them to overcome this deficit.
