For the first time since the 2010 season, the Philadelphia Phillies are headed to the NLCS.
Most people outside of that locker room are surprised that the Phillies were able to defeat the defending champs in four games.
The Phillies imposed their will on the Atlanta Braves throughout both games in Philly.
In games 3-4 the Phillies won 9-1 and 8-3.
One main reason for the upset was the elite pitching of the Phillies.
They were able to stifle one of the top-hitting teams in the National League.
Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley, and, Michael Harris combined for four hits.
Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola both gave the Phillies great starts in this series.
Including six scoreless innings from Nola in a crucial game-three win.

Is anyone talking about how the Phillies ran out 6 pitchers today and gave up no walks?

Sometimes in the MLB playoffs, the best team does not always win it all.
But, the hottest team going into the postseason has the most success.
That is exactly what the Phillies are.
The atmosphere at Citizens Bank Park was electric, and the Phillies fed off of that.
One of the biggest reactions of the postseason was seeing the Phillies fans going crazy after the J.T. Realmuto inside-the-park homer.

The result of this NLDS series has the whole MLB buzzing.
This was a Phillies team that backed their way into the playoffs in September and now looks like the team to beat.
It will be interesting to see if they face the Padres or Dodgers in the NLCS.
Either way, the Phillies fans will be rocking when the series goes to CBP as Philadelphia looks to keep the dream season alive.
