Insider Labels Recent Vikings Roster Move As A ‘Big Win’

The Minnesota Vikings have made some interesting moves during this NFL offseason after the team fell apart in the NFL playoffs last season, losing to the New York Giants.

First, the Vikings surprisingly parted ways with four-time Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook by simply releasing the veteran after failing to find a trade partner.

Before today, it seemed like star linebacker Danielle Hunter had also played his last game for the Vikings, with the team ready to part ways with the one-time All-Pro.

In an interesting turn of events, the Vikings will keep Hunter on their roster with the team agreeing to a one-year deal with him worth as much as $20 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

This seems like a smart move for the Vikings, as losing Hunter would be a costly blow to the team’s defense moving forward, which would’ve had a considerable impact on Minnesota’s chances of competing in the NFC next season.

Hunter is coming off one of his best seasons yet with the Vikings, as he made the Pro Bowl for the third time in his career after recording 10.5 sacks, 46 solo tackles, three passes defended, and a forced fumble while playing in all 17 regular-season games.

The veteran linebacker also had a sack in the playoff game against the Giants on quarterback Daniel Jones, even though the team ultimately lost that game to New York and saw their season prematurely come to an end after a better-than-expected regular season.

Next season will be an interesting one for Minnesota, as there could be some drastic change on both sides of the football if the team is unable to live up to expectations.
