The New York Jets are hoping for better luck with injuries during the 2024 NFL season after seeing their offense decimated in 2023.

The biggest loss, of course, was Aaron Rodgers, who tore his Achilles in Week 1 and wound up missing the remainder of the regular season.

Rodgers was hell-bent on making a comeback late in the year, but after the Jets were eliminated from postseason contention it didn’t make sense for him to rush getting back on the field.

New York did a better job of adding depth behind Rodgers after they signed veteran Tyrod Taylor in free agency.

However, the Jets also added to the quarterback room by drafting Florida State’s Jordan Travis with the No. 171 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Travis will get a shot to develop behind the scenes but is confident he can take over for Rodgers some day, via Rich Cimini of ESPN.

“Yes, sir. I do think about that a lot, but right now I’m just focused where my feet are, just getting healthy and getting everybody around me better, being a great teammate,” Travis said when asked if he could be the starter after Rodgers.

Travis apparently doesn’t lack for any confidence which is a good thing and he also seems focused on doing what he can now so he can eventually earn a starting job in the NFL.

The former Seminole was a solid dart throw that late in the draft as he showed some good understanding of his collegiate offense and coupled it with his physical toughness.

Travis won’t contribute in the near future but could be a piece for New York down the line.
