Case Keenum Comments On The Texans New QB Room

The Houston Texans are looking to start a new era and build a new winning culture.

They were fortunate enough to snag Ohio State University quarterback C.J. Stroud with the No. 2 pick in April’s NFL draft, and they still have Davis Mills, their previous starting QB, as well as veteran Case Keenum available behind Stroud.

Keenum said recently that Stroud has been “extremely accurate” and that he doesn’t act like someone who hasn’t played in a pro game yet.

In fact, although Mills isn’t exactly an impressive passer, Keenum also had something impressive to say about him.

Stroud threw for 3,688 yards and 41 touchdowns last season while with the Buckeyes, and most feel he has tremendous upside.

Houston got to draft him just a year after trading away Deshaun Watson, and he could be their man for the next decade or more.

The team was aggressive on draft day, as they also acquired the No. 3 pick from the Arizona Cardinals, which they used on Will Anderson Jr., who is a talented defensive end from the University of Alabama.

Indeed, new head coach DeMeco Ryans, who spent the last two seasons as the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator, will likely build the Texans’ culture around the defensive side of the football.

It’s hard to imagine them making the playoffs in 2023, especially given the fact they traded away stud wide receiver Brandin Cooks and the immense depth across the AFC, but adding a few wins to their 3-13-1 record from last season will be considered progress.
