Report: Warriors’ Green to begin preparations for return in coming days

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green will return to the team facilities in the coming days, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

A return date for Green has not been set but Wojnarowski reports that he will “start ramping up to resume play.”

Green has been on indefinite suspension from the NBA since Dec. 13 following a physical altercation with Jusuf Nurkic of the Phoenix Suns. It was Green’s second suspension of the season and his history played into the length of the punishment.

“(Green) will be required to meet certain league and team conditions before he returns to play,” the league said in a statement announcing the suspension.

Thursday’s game against the Nuggets will be Green’s 11th game missed during his current suspension. Shams Charania of The Athletic has reported that Green was expected to undergo counselling during his suspension.

“The whole key for me is what this can do for his life long-term,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said in December. “I want him to be happy. I want him to reap the rewards of an incredible career and legacy, and I want him to finish that career in a really wonderful, dignified manner. This guy is one of the great winners of all time, one of the great competitors of all time, but he’s crossed a line. He knows that. He knows he needs help, and he’s going to get that help, and we’re going to help him with it.”
