For the last few seasons, the Philadelphia 76ers have been steadily building a strong team that could make the NBA Finals.

They might actually reach the championship this year and fans are eager to see years of hard work finally pay off.

If the 76ers do go all the way, it’ll be because of multiple stars on the team, including Tyrese Maxey.

Maxey has been with the team since joining the league three years ago and he is having perhaps his best season yet.

According to Sean Deveney, via NBACentral, Maxey might be headed to a max contract extension with the 76ers.

If that happens, the deal could be worth about $200 million over five years.

As you can imagine, the response to this report was swift and strong.

Some people celebrated the idea of Maxey remaining in Philadelphia while others thought he was being overpaid.

“That’s going to be an extremely hard signing for them to do. He has solid numbers but giving up that much money will lessen what room they already having in bringing in other pieces,” one fan said.

Another fan noted that this deal would leave the Sixers with very little spending cash.

“I think he’s worth it but I feel like max contract players are cursed in Philly. Very hopefully he doesn’t fall into the same,” one nervous fan said.

Finally, some fans were completely all-in on the possibility of Maxey getting a max deal and sticking around in Philadelphia.

For the season, Maxey has been producing 20.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on 48.1% from the field.

He has been very helpful to the team at multiple points and has come in clutch during several games.

But is he really worth $200 million?

We will find out soon.
