Former Broncos Star Is Headed To The XFL

After a hiatus that was triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic, the XFL has resumed play this season.

One selling point for the fledgling league is the fact that it has a number of former NFL players, including quarterback AJ McCarron, who was a big standout while at the University of Alabama.

On Tuesday, the Seattle Sea Dragons signed running back Phillip Lindsay, who had spent five seasons in the NFL.

Lindsay made his name during his rookie season in 2018 with the Denver Broncos when he ran for 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

He followed that stellar maiden voyage with 1,011 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in the 2019 campaign.

What made Lindsay’s production during his first two seasons all the more impressive was the fact that he was undrafted out of the University of Colorado Boulder, therefore making him the first undrafted player to rush for 1,000 yards in both of his first two seasons, as well as the first such player to make a Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Unfortunately, since then, injuries have robbed him of his ability, and he has started just nine games over the last three campaigns.

While in college, Lindsay, a native of Denver, had 1,252 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior and 1,474 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns in his senior season.

The rebirth of the XFL should present a number of NFL cast-offs a second opportunity to showcase their skills while having fun playing a game they love, not to mention making some dough.
