PWHL Montreal’s Sarah Lefort suspended one game for hit


Montreal forward Sarah Lefort will miss the team’s opening game of the PWHL semifinals against Boston after receiving a one-game suspension Thursday.

Lefort received the ban for an open-ice hit to Jamie Lee Rattray during the first period of Montreal’s 4-3 loss against Boston last Saturday. No penalty was called at the time.

Meanwhile, Montreal forward Melodie Daoust was fined $250 for grabbing the facemask of an opposing player during the second period. Daoust received a penalty for roughing on the play.

The PWHL also fined Minnesota forward Liz Schepers $500 for a hit during her team’s 5-2 loss to New York last Saturday.
