Five-seven time Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton has claimed that his team Mercedes “didn’t listen” to the concerns he had about this years W14 car.

This comes following a disappointing opening race to the season in Bahrain with Hamilton and his team-mate George Russell finishing fifth and seventh respectively.

Hamilton has now claimed that Mercedes and Toto Wolff ignored his concerns and has called for accountability in an effort to solve their glaring issues. Speaking to the BBC Hamilton said:

“Last year, I told them the issues that are with the car, Like, I’ve driven so many cars in my life, so I know what a car needs, I know what a car doesn’t need.

“And I think it’s really about accountability, it’s about owning up and saying ‘yeah, you know what, we didn’t listen to you, it’s not where it needs to be and we’ve got to work’.”

A lack of competitiveness also prompted former Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg to take aim at his former employers suggesting the car concept is “in a river”.

Rosberg told Sky F1, “Toto Wolff said that this concept won’t go any further – that’s a big statement,”

Hamilton finished 50 seconds behind the eventual winner and his former arch nemesis Max Verstappen who is targeting his third successive world title.
