Conor McGregor returns to UFC as Ultimate Fighter coach against Michael Chandler

Conor McGregor will make his long-awaited return to UFC as he will join Michael Chandler as a coach on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the news Saturday saying the two coaches will go head-to-head at the end of the series, which begins May 30.

White added that date and location for the fight has not been confirmed yet.

McGregor last fought in the Octagon July 2021 at UFC 264 when he was defeated by Dustin Poirier via TKO decision after he suffered a broken leg. It was the second time in six months McGregor had lost to Poirier, and the Irish fighter is 1-3 in his last four UFC matches since 2018.

McGregor has only coached the Ultimate Fighter once back in 2015 in the 22nd season of the show when he went up against Urijah Faber.

Chandler has lost two of his last three fights but picked up an impressive win at UFC 281 when he earned a knockout decision against Tony Ferguson.

Chandler has been pushing for a fight against McGregor since making his UFC debut. The former Bellator champion is 2-3 since making the jump to UFC going up against title contenders in Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje and Poirier.
