This morning, the Los Angeles Angels took a flyer on one of the remaining free agent left-handed relievers, signing veteran Matt Moore to a one-year deal.

Moore is the latest addition for an Angels team that has been relatively busy this winter, adding other pieces such as Tyler Anderson, Gio Urshela, Hunter Renfroe, and Brandon Drury.

The Angels had a disastrous 2022 season, but appear to have built a stronger supporting cast around stars such as Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout.

Moore gives them a solid lefty in the bullpen to go alongside veteran Aaron Loup.

On Twitter, ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez revealed the financial terms of the Moore deal.

Moore joins the Angels on a one-year, $7.55 million contract.

After several years as a starter, Moore shifted into a relief role with the Texas Rangers.

Last season, the 33-year-old appeared in 63 games and pitched 74 innings, posting a stellar ERA of 1.95.

He began his career with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011.

He also has spent time with the San Francisco Giants, Detroit Tigers, and Philadelphia Phillies.

The Angels had been searching for some bullpen help during the final weeks of the offseason.

More specifically, they were in search of a left-handed reliever.

And so, they landed on Moore.

The veteran lefty struck out 83 batters last season and only allowed 38 walks.

With this latest addition, the Halos have made it clear that they intend to compete for a spot in the postseason in 2023.

After a hot start to 2022, the Angels collapsed and ultimately lost 89 games.
