On Tuesday, veteran outfielder Dexter Fowler announced that he would be retiring from baseball.

During his 14-year career, he spent time with the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and Los Angeles Angels.

He was an All-Star in 2016 and helped the Cubs win the World Series for the first time since 1908.

But Fowler was well loved no matter where he went, as his energy was something that could light a spark underneath a club.

Though he didn’t quite replicate his prior success in St. Louis, Cardinals fans still enjoyed having him.

On Twitter, one fan thanked Fowler for his four years with the team and posted a highlight of one of his finest moments as a Cardinal, when he hit a walk-off home run against the rival Cubs in 2018.

Fowler was ultimately traded to the Angels after the 2020 season, but he still had some memorable moments in a Cardinals uniform.

He was a key piece on the 2019 team that won the National League Central and also helped lead the team back to October in 2020.

The Cardinals had missed the postseason in 2016, the year before Fowler joined the team.

They went on to miss the postseason in 2017 and again in 2018, but Fowler helped guide them back to prominence.

He also played alongside several greats in St. Louis, including Paul Goldschmidt, Matt Carpenter, Marcell Ozuna, Yadier Molina, and Adam Wainwright.

Now, the 36-year-old is ready to begin the next chapter of his life, but fans of the teams he played for will miss having him around.
