The Golden State Warriors desperately needed a hero to keep them afloat.

Stephen Curry has been out with a shoulder injury, and you don’t have to be a basketball savant to realize that’s bad news for Steve Kerr‘s team.

Fortunately, Klay Thompson chose just the right time to get hot again, as he proved with a 54-point explosion over the Atlanta Hawks last week.

Even so, and as great and consistent as he’s been for the best part of his career, it seems like people continue to sleep on Thompson.

In fact, NBA insider Shams Charania believes he’s one of the most overlooked players in the league:

“For me, it was great to see Klay Thompson take and make clutch shots again,” Charania told FanDuel TV. “He’s been telling everyone all year, publicly and privately, he’s gonna figure this out; he’s gonna turn it around. He got off to a really slow start. And I think you’re seeing those averages come back; the shooting percentages come back. (…) Klay Thompson – one of the best shooters ever. I think that gets overlooked a lot.”

Thompson is a four-time NBA champion and a guy who’s played a pivotal role in every single one of those title runs.

He’s one of the most efficient pure shooters this game has ever seen, and people don’t give him enough credit for his perimetral defense, either.

But hey, Dubs fans, don’t worry.

If he has to keep up scoring 50+ to finally get some praise and recognition, he’s definitely more than capable of it.
