Pizza to the Polls

Pizza. The unofficial national staple food of Election Day.

Pizza to the Polls, an organization that feeds voters at polling locations, started in 2016 after seeing reports of long lines at early voting sites.

The group “sent in delivery pizzas to feed the crowds,” according to its website. “The feedback was immediate and immense: it fortified hungry voters in line, cheered up beleaguered poll workers and gave people a way to help out their communities.”

In 2020, Pizza to the Polls delivered 70,000-plus pizzas to 3,000 polling sites across 48 states and raised $1.5 million from 30,000 donors, its website says.
