Pet-food firm Voff snaps up UK peer Nova Dog Chews

Voff Premium Pet Food, the Sweden-based pet-food business, has made UK peer Nova Dog Chews its latest acquisition.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Voff Premium Pet Food manufactures cat and dog food, as well as treats and supplements, manufactured at plants spread across Finland, Germany and the UK. The business generates annual revenue of more than SEK1bn (US$93.5m) and employs around 300 staff. Nova Dog Chews joins eight other brands in the range including Oscar, Dibo and Aniforte.

Leo & Wolf is Voff Premium Pet Food’s only in-house brand with the remainder of the portfolio inherited through acquisitions.

The deal for Nova Dog Chews – based in Scotland – was finalised at the start of the month. Established in 2004 and previously known as Antos Ltd, Nova Dog Chews is a manufacturer and supplier of dog treats, snacks and chews. The company has an office in France.

Mårten Bernow, Voff Premium Pet Food’s CEO, said: “This acquisition further strengthens Voff’s product portfolio within the chews, treats and snacks category and adds great brands with presence across Europe.”

In a joint statement, Nova Dog Chews founders and co-managing directors Antoon Murphy and Lloyd Murdoch added: “We are proud and excited to join Voff. They are the largest player in natural pet food in Europe and we look forward to joining the pack of brands and entrepreneurs under its roof.”

Two months ago, Voff Premium Pet Food sold a majority interest to Nordic-focused private-equity firm Axcel.
