Returning to the playoffs will be the Seattle Seahawks‘ foremost goal this season.

They failed to enter the postseason for the first time in four years after finishing their campaign at 7-10.

But as they hope to extend their run beyond the regular season, the Seahawks also hope to maintain their winning streak when playing at home for Week 1.

NFL on CBS shared that the Seahawks are on a seven-game win streak when playing at home during opening weekend.

The streak stretches from 2003, when they won against the New Orleans Saints, until 2019, when they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals.

Between those games are victories over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2007), Los Angeles Rams (2009), San Francisco 49ers (2010), Green Bay Packers (2014), and Miami Dolphins (2016).

Ironically, they will play their season opener against the Denver Broncos with former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson as the starter.

He had a hand in those Week 1 victories against the Packers, Dolphins, and Bengals.

Wilson could also be the reason for the streak’s ending with a win against his previous squad.

The Seahawks traded Wilson to the Broncos this offseason.

In return, Seattle received five draft picks, tight end Noah Fant, defensive end Shelby Harris, and quarterback Drew Lock.

Seahawks Usher In A New Era

Head coach Pete Carroll will be banking on youth to remain competitive in the league.

On offense, quarterback Geno Smith has weapons like Rashaad Penny, Tyler Lockett, and D.K. Metcalf.

They also selected offensive lineman Charles Cross with the ninth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

On defense, they will bank on Darrell Taylor, Quandre Diggs, and Jamal Adams.

After facing the Broncos, the Seahawks will face the division rival San Francisco 49ers in Week 2.

The Seahawks will also travel the most this season at 29,446 miles.
