Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) advised CBS Information that there was once an “extraordinarily extensive” and “extraordinarily well-organized” conspiracy via then-President Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the result of the 2020 election — and that the Jan. 6, 2021, assault at the U.S. Capitol was once only one example in “an ongoing risk” to democracy.
Mentioned Cheney: “We aren’t in a scenario the place former president Trump has expressed any sense of regret about what came about. We’re, if truth be told, in a scenario the place he continues to make use of much more excessive language, frankly, than the language that led to the assault.”
She added: “And so, folks should concentrate. Other people should watch, and so they should know the way simply our democratic device can get to the bottom of if we don’t protect it.”
