Vic Fangio Reveals If He Wants To Be A Head Coach Again

After many years of being a successful defensive coordinator for several teams, Vic Fangio tried his hand at being an NFL head coach when the Denver Broncos hired him for the 2019 season in that capacity.

After three years in that role, which yielded a losing record each season and no playoff appearances, he moved on, and he has spent this season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coordinator.

He has revitalized an Eagles defense that struggled mightily last season and finished this regular season ranked second in points allowed and first in total yards given up.

With several teams across the league looking to hire new head coaches, Fangio made it clear that he wants to remain in his current role rather than become a head coach again.

“No, I’m happy to be here right now,” Fangio said.

Philly collapsed late last season after a 10-1 start by losing five of their last six regular-season games and falling in the wild-card round of the playoffs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 32-9.

They were in obvious disarray, and there were rumors that head coach Nick Sirianni’s job was in jeopardy.

But Sirianni remained in place, and he brought in Fangio, which turned out to be a pivotal decision when it has come to the team’s turnaround.

The Eagles finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, and while many are picking the Detroit Lions to reach the Super Bowl, they are arguably a better all-around team, especially given the Lions’ many injuries and defensive issues.

They will begin the playoffs this Sunday at home versus the Green Bay Packers.
