The New England Patriots used to be the team to beat in the NFL.
For two decades, Bill Belichick ran the team with military-like discipline.
Of course, not everybody liked his methods, but most players often followed orders and did their jobs.
That’s no longer the case.
The team has not spent much money on good players, the head coach has not been held accountable for any of the losses, and their effort has been questionable.
That’s why NFL analyst – and diehard Patriots fan – Bill Simmons believes it’s time to blow the organization up.
One of many reasons the Pats have to blow it up — what major free agent is considering a poorly-run, poorly-coached, cheaply-owned team that (a) got worse every month, and (b) has players openly questioning its direction? You think Tee Higgins is gonna be like, “I’m intrigued!”

Following their blowout loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, he claimed that no good free agent would ever play for a team that’s run like the Patriots right now.
The Patriots will reportedly aggressively pursue star wide receiver Tee Higgins.
He will be their primary target, and they will reportedly spare no expense to get him to Foxboro.
Then again, as much as money will play a big factor in his decision, that’s not the only thing a player like him will ponder when choosing his next destination.
Higgins will have no shortage of suitors lining up outside his door to sign him, and it will take much more than a blank check to get him to do so.
The Patriots don’t seem to have a clear direction right now, and with Jerod Mayo raising more questions than answers, it might take a while for this team to get back to contention.
