Jets Interviewed Interesting Candidate For GM Job

The New York Jets are diving headfirst into a crucial organizational overhaul, having missed the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season with a disappointing 4-10 record.

Following Joe Douglas’s dismissal as general manager, the team has launched an extensive search for his replacement, with Phil Savage, their senior football adviser since 2019, holding down the fort as interim GM.

The Jets’ search has now turned to Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl’s executive director, who recently interviewed for the position.

Nagy joins an impressive list of candidates, including former Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff and ex-Titans GM Jon Robinson, as the team explores its options for new leadership.

Nagy brings a wealth of experience to the table. Since 2018, he’s been at the helm of the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, orchestrating what’s widely considered the premier showcase event for NFL draft prospects.

His role encompasses both football operations and business management, building on an extensive NFL scouting background that includes stints with the Seattle Seahawks (2013-2018), as well as valuable experience with Green Bay, Washington, New England, and Kansas City’s scouting departments.

The Jets aren’t limiting their search to just a new GM. After parting ways with Robert Saleh, they’re simultaneously hunting for a head coach, with defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich currently serving in an interim capacity.

It’s clear the team is pushing for a complete leadership reset.

Owner Woody Johnson has taken an innovative approach to these searches by partnering with The 33rd Team, a football analytics and consulting group established by former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum.

The group, working alongside former Dolphins and Vikings GM Rick Spielman, has been tasked with identifying, vetting, and coordinating interviews with potential candidates.
