After 13 games, the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are sporting a record tied for the league’s best at 12-1, with only the Detroit Lions being able to say the same after Week 14 concludes on Monday night.
Even though the Chiefs have only lost one game this season, which came against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills a few weeks ago, it hasn’t been an easy road to 12 wins, with the team winning 10 one-score games in their 12 victories.
On Sunday night, the Chiefs needed a game-winning field goal from third-string kicker Matthew Wright, who banked in off the upright, to secure the win against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
Close wins have become a trademark for the defending champions this season, and even though the Chiefs wouldn’t mind a blowout victory from time to time, head coach Andy Reid has been proud of his team’s resiliency via Sports Radio 810 WHB.
“We’ve been able to battle through some things to get these victories, and I’m sure we’ll continue to do that,” Reid said.
Andy Reid admits that yes, this season is pretty unique with all their close games.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Chiefs can continue to pull out these close wins in the final four games of the regular season and then carry over their success in the NFL playoffs.
The Chiefs are chasing history right now because if they are able to pull off the three-peat they’ll be the first team in NFL history to do so, which is quite an accomplishment for Reid and his squad.
