The Miami Dolphins find themselves backed into a corner as the 2024 season enters its critical phase.
With a 2-6 record, every game has become a must-win affair for Miami, and the margin for error has vanished.
In Week 10, the Dolphins face a daunting cross-country journey to face the Los Angeles Rams on “Monday Night Football.”
Leading up to that game, Miami made a notable roster move that might signal broader changes ahead.
“We have waived DT Brandon Pili,” the team wrote on X.

The backup defensive lineman appeared in all eight games this season and likely was waived to create roster space.
This opening is likely intended for wide receiver River Cracraft, who’s poised to return from injured reserve.
Pili’s journey with the Dolphins has been nothing short of remarkable.
The 25-year-old made headlines last year during training camp, becoming the first Alaska native to secure a spot on an active roster in nearly a decade.
His determination earned him a place with Miami as an undrafted rookie, and he appeared in four games before being moved to the practice squad last November.
The strategy appears similar this time around, with hopes of retaining Pili on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
His collegiate career at USC (2017-22) showcased his potential across 52 games, accumulating impressive stats: 74 total tackles (29 solo), 3.5 sacks, four passes defended and one forced fumble.
