For a little while now, many have been comparing Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards to Michael Jordan because of his skills, athleticism, and chutzpah.

It seems like it could be an apt comparison, but Edwards has a long way to go before he can truly match the dominance of arguably the greatest player of all time.

In the Western Conference Finals, his Timberwolves fell in five games to the Dallas Mavericks, and Mavs leader Luka Doncic put up some monster numbers.

It led Colin Cowherd to compare Doncic to Jordan while saying that Jordan looked the way the Slovenian native has looked at times — dominant, via “The Herd.”

In the conference finals, Doncic averaged 32.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists a game while shooting 43.4% from 3-point range, and there were times when Minnesota seemed helpless against him.

He hit the game-winning 3-pointer with time running out in Game 2 in the face of Rudy Gobert, this year’s Defensive Player of the Year, and he then yelled an expletive at Gobert while saying he couldn’t guard him.

Doncic led the NBA in scoring during the regular season, and he was recently named to his fifth All-NBA First Team.

As Cowherd pointed out, he already has more such selections than Dirk Nowitzki, who is considered the greatest Maverick ever, and Stephen Curry.

Now, Doncic and crew will take on the Boston Celtics, who had the league’s best record, in the NBA Finals, and they will be underdogs.

But with the way he has been playing, no one should be too surprised if and his team ends up with the Larry O’Brien Trophy within a few weeks.
