2025 NFL Draft Outlook: Potential Standout Players

2025 NFL Draft Outlook: Potential Standout Players

The 2024 NFL Mock Draft hype has been and gone, now eyes are turning towards the new season. With teams full of hope with their newly drafted rookies, current college juniors and seniors will be eyeing up the jump to the big league. Here is an early insight into what the 2025 NFL Draft could look like. The order has been selected via current Super Bowl Odds.

Pick 1 – Carolina Panthers

Selection: DE – James Pearce Jr – Tennessee

After trading 2x Pro Bowler Brian Burns this offseason, the Carolina Panthers edge rushers do not look as scary. With predictions of them finishing with the worst record once again, Pearce could hear his name called out first. Pearce is arguably the best edge rusher in the whole of college football, and was a first-team all-SEC this past season.

Pick 2 – New England Patriots

Selection: OT – Will Campbell – LSU

The New England Patriots do not have a franchise left tackle, and if they want to protect rookie quarterback, Drake Maye, this is what they need. Campbell is a technical left tackle who would be an extremely reliable option, should he be drafted here. Last season at LSU, Campbell allowed zero sacks which just shows his high level of pass protection.

Pick 3 – Denver Broncos

Selection: DT – Mason Graham – Michigan

The Broncos’ defence is severely lacking. After having one of the worst in the league, they desperately need a difference-maker. This could be Mason Graham of the Michigan Wolverines. Graham is one of the most complete players in this draft and could be one of the best interior defensive linemen in the league in a few years.

Pick 4 – Washington Commanders

Selection: LB – Harold Perkins – LSU

Perkins is one of the most versatile defensive players in the 2025 draft. Drafting him would immediately improve a lacklustre Washington defensive line. Reportedly switching from defensive end to linebacker this season, Perkins will help the Commanders defence out massively if drafted.

Pick 5 – Tennessee Titans

Selection: CB/WR – Travis Hunter – Colorado

The Tennessee Titans are more than definitely going to have a top 5 pick next year. After having a poor draft, drafting a generational talent in Hunter in 2025 will do the fans some good. Hunter has the potential to be the face of a franchise due to his two-way ability to play both corner and receiver. He is widely expected to be playing cornerback at the NFL level, but that won’t restrict him from taking some snaps on the opposite side of the ball. Hunter is the best ballhawk in the class, which is why I believe he will be a top 5 pick.

Pick 6 – New York Giants

Selection: QB – Carson Beck – Georgia

In 2025, it seems the Daniel Jones era will be ending in New York. His ready-made replacement will be waiting in the wings though, as I can see New York selecting Georgia QB Carson Beck. The 2024 Heisman Trophy favourite is a talented passer who goes under the radar for most. Many people are currently sleeping on Carson Beck but he is the QB1 of this draft.

Pick 7 – Minnesota Vikings

Selection: CB – Benjamin Morrison – Notre Dame

With the Minnesota Vikings going through a lot of changes this past offseason, it may take some time for them to get going. Selecting Notre Dame corner Benjamin Morrison here will give the Vikings a big boost within the secondary.

Pick 8 – Arizona Cardinals

Selection: DT – Deone Walker – Kentucky

After addressing issues on both sides of the ball in the draft, one position the Cardinals didn’t draft was a defensive tackle. After boasting the worst run defence in the league, the Cardinals could choose to bolster it with the selection of Deone Walker. Walker is a monstrous prospect who is a good run defender also. Standing at 6’6, he is an explosive player who is extremely agile and fast for his size. His power and strength also help him get to the QB.

Pick 9 – Las Vegas Raiders

Selection: QB – Shedeur Sanders – Colorado

Despite concerns over his attitude, Sanders is still one of the best quarterbacks in this class. The son of NFL Hall of Fame cornerback, Deion Sanders is one of the most hyped prospects in all of college football. He played his first year at the Power 5 level last season where Sanders performed to a good standard. If he can show this at a consistent level, then he has all the tools to be a top-10 pick.

Pick 10 – New Orleans Saints

Selection: WR – Luther Burden III – Missouri

After being one of the worst teams with yards after catch in the previous season, I have the Saints taking one of the best receivers after the catch in Luther Burden III. Burden is an extremely explosive receiver who is a violent runner. With his blazing speed, he is comparable to Malik Nabers who was a top prospect this year. Drafting Burden would give the starting Saints 2025 QB a new weapon.

Pick 11 – Seattle Seahawks

Selection: DE – Abdul Carter – Penn State

News has broken recently that the Seattle Seahawks love Penn State prospect Abdul Carter. Similar to Micah Parsons, although not as explosive, this is Carter’s year to truly break out at Penn State. After being a part of a deep defensive end room, this year Carter will be changing from LB to DE. This will give him the flexibility to perform at multiple positions when drafted into the NFL.

Pick 12 – Indianapolis Colts

Selection: CB – Will Johnson – Michigan

Drafting Will Johnson would give the Colts another premier option at the corner position. With Kenny Moore II solidifying one corner spot, Johnson will battle out the CB2 spot with JuJu Brents. Starting at cornerback for the National Champions, Michigan Wolverines, Johnson has excelled against some of the best receivers in college football such as Marvin Harrison Jr and Malik Nabers. He is the best cover man in this draft and is an exciting prospect who has impressive athleticism.

Pick 13 – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Selection: WR – Tetairoa McMillan – Arizona

With Mike Evans turning 30, drafting McMillan would give the Bucs a long-term solution at the receiver spot. With great speed and burst, he is one of the best receivers in this class. His 6’5 size makes him a mismatch for opposition’s secondary and he would be a great option for Tampa to select.

Pick 14 – Pittsburgh Steelers

Selection: QB – Quinn Ewers – Texas

After signing both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this offseason, Pittsburgh could have another QB this time next year. This is due to both Wilson and Fields only being signed to one-year deals. With Wilson not getting any younger, and many unsure of Fields being someone who can consistently perform at the top level, I can see the Steelers selecting Quinn Ewers from Texas. Ewers, being one of the most hyped quarterbacks of recent times, has the buzz of the Heisman Trophy around him for 2024. However, battling for the QB1 spot at the Longhorns with Arch Manning, Ewers will need to cement himself to ensure he becomes a top draft pick next year.

Pick 15 – Los Angeles Chargers

Selection: WR – Evan Stewart – Oregon

A former 5-star prospect, Stewart has recently transferred to Oregon from Texas A&M. Although underperforming in the last year, Stewart was dealing with the QB2 at Texas A&M, so transferring to Oregon I believe he can bounce back. If Quentin Johnston doesn’t perform in year 2, the Chargers could take a punt on Evan Stewart to be their WR1.

Pick 16 – Jacksonville Jaguars

Selection: OT – Kelvin Banks – Texas

The second offensive tackle off the board, Kelvin Banks would give the Jaguars another young tackle prospect to become a long-term pass protector for Trevor Lawrence. Banks is an absolute rock. This is shown with his stats last season as he only allowed one sack and one QB hit. This earned him First-Team All-Big 12 honours and will certainly put him high on teams’ draft boards.

Pick 17 – Chicago Bears

Selection: DE – Patrick Payton – Florida State

The Chicago Bears will more than certainly improve from last season, especially with the draft they had. Drafting Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze has catapulted their offence from mediocre to potentially amazing. Now focusing on the defensive side of the ball, the Bears could draft Patrick Payton of Florida State. The 2022 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year is a disruptive pass rusher who could thrive in Eric Washington’s defence.

Pick 18 – Cleveland Browns

Selection: DE – Nic Scourton – Texas A&M

Scourton will be one of the younger players in the draft this time next year with him only being 20 years old. Recently transferring to Texas A&M from Purdue, Scourton could be a big defensive addition to an already elite Cleveland defence. With prototypical size and good anticipation, Scourton has all the tools to become an elite pass rusher.

Pick 19 – Los Angeles Rams

Selection: CB – Denzel Burke – Ohio State

Denzel Burke has already established himself as one of the best corners in the draft. Burke is an extremely physical corner who loves press-man coverage. Constantly challenging for the ball, Burke can force incompletions for fun. I can see Burke heading to the Los Angeles Rams at pick 19.

Pick 20 – Atlanta Falcons

Selection: DE – JT Tuimoloau – Ohio State

With a screaming need for pass rush help, I have the Atlanta Falcons selecting defensive end, JT Tuimoloau at pick 20. As this draft includes a very deep-edged rushing class, JT Tuimoloau has great upside as a prospect. Tuimoloau has great size and strength which makes him one of the best run defenders in the class. This could result in him being a day 1 starter for the Falcons.

Pick 21 – Miami Dolphins

Selection: DT – Kenneth Grant – Michigan

Grant is a future NFL stud. Standing out in many games for the National Champions, Michigan, Grant will certainly be a starting defensive tackle when at senior level. Extremely fast for his size, Grant is an absolute tank. If Grant were to land in Miami, they would have one of the scariest defences in the league.

Pick 22 – New York Jets

Selection: WR – Emeka Egbuka – Ohio State

Emeka Egbuka is a name that most are familiar with. Although getting overshadowed by Marvin Harrison Jr at Ohio State, Egbuka still could’ve been a first-round pick in 2024. Now being the top target at Ohio State, expect Egbuka to to have a lot of suitors. It would make a lot of sense for the Jets to draft him as he would give that versatility in the slot and will be a pick that Aaron Rodgers would most certainly like.

Pick 23 – Green Bay Packers

Selection: CB – Tacario Davis – Arizona

One reason why the Packers did not upgrade the secondary as much as they should have been due to the 2025 CB class being immense. I have the Packers selecting Arizona cornerback, Tacario Davis. Although Davis could potentially stay in college for another year, if he does not, he will 100% be a first-round draft pick. Davis is a ballhawk with great size and has been given similarities to Tariq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks.

Pick 24 – Houston Texans

Selection: LB – Barrett Carter – Clemson

Over the past year, the Texans have become a young team that has thrived. The reason this has happened has been because of the draft. Adding Carter to this team will give the Texans an explosive talent with a high ceiling. The pick of Carter in next year’s draft will be a steal.

Pick 25 – Dallas Cowboys

Selection: QB – Jalen Milroe – Alabama

In 2023, Jalen Milroe emerged as the next-best Alabama quarterback. Milroe would be a perfect fit for the Dallas Cowboys, especially as Dak Prescott’s contract is up this season. Selecting Milroe in the draft would give the Cowboys a brilliant dual-threat quarterback for the future.

Pick 26 – Philadelphia Eagles

Selection: DE – Jack Sawyer – Ohio State

Returning to Columbus last season, it is almost certain that Sawyer will put his name into the draft come April. Sawyer is an all-round brilliant player who is good against both pass and run offence. He is a power-edged defender who could excel in a scheme such as Fangio’s.

Pick 27 – Buffalo Bills

Selection: DE – Ashton Gillotte – Louisville

With one player in the draft generating a big jump with first-round buzz every year, I am certain Gillotte will be this player. A very similar player to JT Tuimoloau, Gillotte is a powerful, versatile defensive end. He is super explosive and I can see the Bills drafting this freak of a player.

Pick 28 – Detroit Lions

Selection: DE – Princely Umanmielen – Ole Miss

Having transferred from Florida, Umanmielen will be a mainstay in mock drafts this coming year. Umanmielen is a pass rusher who can make plays at both defensive end and outside linebacker. After a promising college career, playing on the opposite of Aidan Hutchinson at the Detroit Lions would be scary for NFL offences.

Pick 29 – Cincinnati Bengals

Selection: DE – Mykel Williams – Georgia

Mykel Williams is an athletic freak. Although his production doesn’t have strength in his stats like other prospects, his potential and talent are both elite. At the moment, I can see the Bengals taking him to lock down their future pass rushers. However, another big season and he may not be available at this spot.

Pick 30 – Baltimore Ravens

Selection: DE – Landon Jackson – Arkansas

A traditionally big defensive lineman, Landon Jackson would be a perfect fit for the Baltimore Ravens. Standing at 6’7, Jackson would be a monster in Baltimore.

Pick 31 – Kansas City Chiefs

Selection: S – Malaki Starks – Georgia

Selecting Malaki Starks in the draft would give the Chiefs a polished safety from day 1. Starks has elite playmaking skills and is a player who could surely transfer every skill to the NFL seamlessly.

Pick 32 – San Francisco 49ers

Selection: DT – Walter Nolen – Ole Miss

Another player who transferred into Ole Miss this past offseason, Nolen is a flashy defensive tackle that would be a great pick for the 49ers. A disruptive force, Nolen would bolster the 49ers’ front seven.
