Stephon Marbury Declares ‘The Best Canadian Basketball Player Ever’

The Oklahoma City Thunder have one of the best and most exciting players in the game right now.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is posting Michael Jordan-caliber numbers on both offense and defense, and that’s a lot to say.

Needless to say, he hasn’t reached Jordan’s dominance level yet — and he might never do it — but he’s already turned a lot of heads in the league.

In fact, he made former NBA guard Stephon Marbury share one of the hottest takes of the season thus far.

Talking on the Ball Don’t Stop podcast, the former New York Knicks star claimed that Shai is already the greatest Canadian player in NBA history (via NBA Central).

Of course, Canadian basketball is going through rapid and notorious growth, so this could make some sense, as there haven’t been that many great Canadian Hoopers in the history of the league.

The Thunder star is obviously the best of all active Canadian players, such as Jamal Murray, RJ Barrett, or Andrew Wiggins.

Nonetheless, perhaps Marbury forgot about Steve Nash.

Nash is a Hall of Famer, two-time MVP, eight-time All-Star, and one of the most influential point guards to ever live.

Shai is just entering his prime, and he could end up having a better career than Nash, who has never been able to win a championship.

Then again, for now, it seems like he still has some hurdles to clear to get past the Phoenix Suns legend.
