Who Will Replace David Wagner?

Who Will Replace David Wagner?
Who Will Replace David Wagner?

Less than 24 hours after losing the play-off vs Leeds, David Wagner has faced the sack as Norwich manager. The question lies in who his replacement at Carrow Road will be. In this post, here are 5 potential managers who could be managing at Norwich next season.

Liam Rosenior

Recently sacked from Hull, Rosenior could be one of the favourites for the vacant Norwich City job. After being nominated for Manager of the Season, Rosenior was harshly sacked by Hull. This sacking was a shock to everyone. He is no doubt a talented manager and he would be brilliant in developing Norwich’s players to their full potential. After turning down the Plymouth job, Rosenior must have his sights set on moving to Carrow Road.

Danny Rohl

With Norwich having a history of hiring German managers, Danny Rohl could be next up. Currently the manager of Sheffield Wednesday, Rohl saved the Owls from relegation. When he arrived at Sheffield Wednesday, they were at the bottom of the table by 3 points. With 13 wins in 33 games, Rohl helped keep Sheffield Wednesday up. Now the vacancy is available at Norwich, it is no doubt Rohl will be considered.

Carlos Cuesta

Currently Mikel Arteta’s number 2, Arsenal can expect Norwich to make an approach for Carlos Cuesta. After being a target in February 2024, it is with no doubt that Norwich will go back down the path of the Spaniard. Arteta has also said in a previous interview that he would not stop Cuesta from becoming a first-team manager if an offer came in. With Cuesta being one of the bookies’ favourites at the time of writing, Arteta may need to start looking for a replacement.

“If that’s their will, you cannot do that. I wouldn’t no.”

Will Still

Once touted as one of the best young coaches in Europe, Will Still is without a club. It is almost certain he will look for a move to England, whether that be with a Premier League side or a Championship side. If Norwich were to succeed in appointing Will Still, it would be a shrewd appointment. This is due to him at one point going 19 games unbeaten for Reims, whilst also being the youngest manager in Ligue 1 at 30. Still is currently down as the favourite to overtake Wagner at Carrow Road.

Eric Ramsay

Only getting his first managerial role in February 2024, the Minnesota United manager could be within a shout for the job of Norwich boss. This could be due to Norwich wanting to replicate how well rivals Ipswich have done with Kieran McKenna as boss. Ramsay, a former Manchester United coach, spent time at Loughborough University with McKenna. Ramsay is currently the youngest-ever MLS head coach, although he may not be there for much longer.
