Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews joins morning skate ahead of Game 7

Toronto Maple Leafs star centre was on the ice for the team’s morning skate ahead of a do-or-die Game 7 against the Boston Bruins.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters Friday that Matthews’ status for Game 7 against the Boston Bruins remains undetermined.

“There’s been progress,” Keefe told reporters, “but no determination on his availability.”

The 26-year-old was not available for Game 6 after he took to the ice to skate and do puck drills but did not remain with the team.

Matthews was pulled from Game 4 in the second intermission and did not play Game 5 as he recovers from an undisclosed illness and/or a mystery injury.

The Maple Leafs have won both games that Matthews has missed to force a Game 7.

Also on the ice was Bobby McMann who has not taken part in a morning skate at this point in the series. McMann has been sidelined with a lower-body injury that he suffered against the Detroit Red wings back on April 13.

The Maple Leafs will take on the Bruins in Game 7 with the winner moving on to play the Florida Panthers. Watch all the action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, starting at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
