The New York Giants were one of the most interesting teams to look out for in the 2024 NFL Draft as they owned the No. 6 pick and could’ve gone in several different directions.

For weeks, there was smoke about New York using their first-round pick on a quarterback like J.J. McCarthy, given Daniel Jones’ injury history and inconsistency on the field.

Jones looked great two seasons ago and was awarded with a lucrative four-year deal, but looked out of place in 2023 before tearing his ACL.

However, the Giants didn’t reach on someone like McCarthy and gave Jones the best weapon he’s had in years in LSU wideout Malik Nabers.

Nabers was considered by some analysts to be the best receiver in the draft because of his blazing speed and ability to create yards after the catch, so Jones should find it easier to push the ball downfield in 2024.

However, analysts like Marc Ross aren’t convinced that Nabers can salvage Jones, via NFL Total Access.

“Great receivers don’t save bad quarterbacks,” Ross said.

It sounds harsh, but Ross speaks the truth when it comes to receivers and quarterbacks.

Jones has shown legitimate flashes throughout his career in the league, but for whatever reason hasn’t been able to put it all together consistently enough.

Nabers is a quarterback-friendly prospect because he can get open and make plays at all three levels of the field but his effectiveness is directly tied to Jones’ throwing ability.

This feels like a make-or-break year for Jones as patience seems to finally be wearing thin in the Giants’ organization.
