New Dolphins RB Makes Bold Claim About His Speed

The Miami Dolphins have the ultimate track team on their roster.

They were already stacked with speed last season with Tyreek Hill and De’Von Achane, but it seems like Mike McDaniel wasn’t satisfied.

That’s why they didn’t hesitate to trade up to get Jaylen Wright out of Tennessee with the No. 120 selection.

Notably, Wright is pretty confident about his speed.

According to a report by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Wright claimed that he had run as fast as 23.7 miles per hour and 4.36 on the 40-yard dash.

He added that his father nicknamed him “Cheetah,” stating that he’ll allow Hill to keep that nickname because he was there first.

Wright, however, would gladly roll with the “lightning” or “flash” nickname.

The Dolphins traded a 2025 third-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles to get him, so they must plan on giving him a significant role in their offense.

They already have Raheem Mostert, who’s coming off a career-best season and led the league with rushing touchdowns, and De’Von Achane, who was one of the most — if not the most — explosive running backs in the game in his rookie campaign.

Nonetheless, Mostert is 32 years old already, and Achane also has a history of injuries, which is why adding an insurance policy made sense.

Wright is coming off a strong final campaign with the Volunteers, rushing for 1,013 yards and four scores on just 137 carries, so he’s clearly explosive and able to make an impact on limited touches.

Now, it’ll be interesting to see if he’s willing to run Hill for the Cheetah nickname.
