The New England Patriots have many, many needs entering next week’s NFL Draft.

They will have the No. 3 pick in the upcoming draft, as well as eight selections overall, and if they play their cards right, those picks could help them take a significant step back to respectability.

Per Carlos Talks Pats on Twitter, they met with safety Mark Perry from TCU multiple times, twice virtually and once in person.

Perry ran the 40-yard dash in a robust 4.4 seconds, and he can help out by stuffing the run in addition to his duties in pass coverage.

The Patriots are in a situation where almost every position is a position of need, especially after they went 4-13 last season, which was their worst finish since all the way back in 1992.

After getting plenty of criticism for some poor personnel moves as their coach and de facto general manager, Bill Belichick is gone, and Jerod Mayo has replaced him as head coach.

While many feel New England needs to take a quarterback at No. 3, there is also an argument to be made that such a quarterback won’t be in a position to succeed given the lack of skill players they have.

As a result, there are some whispers that they may trade down in order to perhaps end up with two picks later in the first round in order to address more weaknesses.

Regardless, the Patriots are definitely in what they would call uncharted waters these days.
