There are multiple rising stars with the Oklahoma City Thunder, led by their MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

But on the latest episode of Mind The Game, via NBA Buzz, LeBron James gave a shoutout to Jalen Williams, the second-year player who has seen his production explode in a huge way in 2023-24.

“He’s a star. I told him, too… I said, ‘Boy, you out here killing,’” James said.

Williams is indeed killing it this year and is giving OKC fans even more to be excited about.

He is producing 19.5 points, 4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game, shooting 54% from the field and 43.1% from the three-point line.

Those are great numbers but they’re even more impressive when you consider that he was putting up 14.1 last year.

In the span of just one year, Williams has become far more comfortable on the court and has created an even deeper chemistry with Gilgeous-Alexander and the rest of the team.

This has been a sensational season for the Thunder, who are the third team in the West right now, just behind the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves.

It’s been a long time coming, with the team’s front office slowly cobbling together a special squad.

Drafting Williams was a big part of their plans.

They chose the 22-year-old player in the 2022 draft, selecting him as the 12th overall pick.

That has proven to be a very smart, important choice for the team and now Williams is a crucial part of the lineup.

There are several players in Oklahoma City who could be running the league in only a few years.

When James watches Williams on the court, he doesn’t just see a competitor, he also sees the future of the NBA.
