Although many people feel the Boston Celtics are the best team in the NBA right now, the defending world champion Denver Nuggets have been lurking, and recently, they have been ramping things up.

Denver has risen to first place in the Western Conference, and the team has won 10 of its last 11 games, which is evoking memories of its run in last year’s playoffs.

Kevin Wildes made an appearance on FS1’s “First Things First” where he said that “no one is beating the Nuggets in a seven-game series.”

The Nuggets have Nikola Jokic, who is the consensus best player in basketball and the favorite to win yet another regular-season MVP, and he continues to put up incredible numbers that no other center, save for perhaps Wilt Chamberlain, has ever posted.

But they’re far from a one-man show — guard Jamal Murray always seems to turn into the Hulk come playoff time, and they play as a team by sharing the ball and running their half-court offense as cohesively as any other squad in the league.

While Denver perhaps isn’t a true fast-break team, they can run with just about anyone in the NBA, especially since Jokic can grab defensive rebounds and run the break himself despite being 6-foot-11 and over 280 pounds.

In the Western Conference, perhaps no one has a core that has been together as long as Denver’s, and every other team that at least has a shot at making the playoffs has at least one question mark.

But Denver has no question marks — they’re a proven commodity, which makes them a safe pick to not only reach the NBA Finals but to also win it all again.
