LeBron James celebrated yet another massive moment on Saturday night, as he reached 40,000 career points, something that has never happened before in all of NBA history.

When James broke that record, the crowd at Crypto.com Arena was on its feet.

Sadly, just a couple of hours later, they left with their heads hanging low as the Los Angeles Lakers were taken down by the Denver Nuggets.

Speaking on “First Take,” Stephen A. Smith said that James’ big night was tarnished by yet another loss and he stated that the Lakers need to find a way to start winning games against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets.

Smith pointed out that every big moment for James and the Lakers has been met with a loss.

Last season, the team was defeated when James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most all-time points in NBA history.

Just a few weeks ago, they also lost when the team unveiled the statue celebrating Kobe Bryant.

Then, on Saturday night, James and his team faced another loss after James reached 40,000 points.

This has become a troubling trend for the Lakers: James continues to thrive and make history and the team keeps struggling to keep up.

The Lakers are now moving beyond that tough loss to the Nuggets but they face some truly difficult opponents in the days ahead, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and more.

For one brief moment, the Lakers and their fans were able to honor James and his amazing feat.

But now they are moving on and hoping to secure some wins.

As Smith noted, Saturday night didn’t go as planned for the Lakers but it’s not too late for them to turn the season around and reach the playoffs.

However, the clock is starting to tick louder and louder.
