The New York Giants have a decision to make about Saquon Barkley.

The star running back has been vocal about his discontent with the organization and the way they’ve treated him dating back to last season.

Barkley wants to get paid as the top-notch running back he is, yet the Giants aren’t even so sure about signing him to a long-term deal.

Some believe he’s going to get the franchise tag before Tuesday’s deadline, while others think his time in the Big Apple has come to an end already.

Nonetheless, that’s not the case with oddsmakers, as the Giants are still the odds-on favorite to have him on their roster next season, followed by the Houston Texans, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, and Philadelphia Eagles (Via NBC Sports Bet).

From a financial and a short-term standpoint, perhaps getting tagged would be the best-case-scenario for Barkley, as he’d likely make more money than what he’d get somewhere else.

Then again, he has every right to try to look for himself and get some sort of insurance for the future, especially considering how much he’s struggled with injuries throughout the course of his career.

On the same note, that’s also why some teams, Giants included, might not be so sure about signing him to a long-term deal.

Barkley is one of the best running backs in the game when healthy, but he’s missed plenty of time, and with running backs losing free-agent value by the year, this might be his last chance to get paid.
