Predators’ McCarron, Wild’s Zuccarello fined $2K for unsportsmanlike conduct

Nashville Predators centre Michael McCarron and Minnesota Wild winger Mats Zuccarello were each fined $2,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct stemming from Thursday night’s matchup, the department of player safety announced.

Zuccarello and McCarron were involved in a scrum in a testy first period that saw a combined 26 PIM in 20 minutes of play. Zuccarello got hit with a two-minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct while McCarron was sent to the box with a roughing minor.

The testiness didn’t stop off the ice, as Zuccarello and Wild’s Jake Middleton were jawing at McCarron from box to box as they served their respective penalties.

The Wild went on to lose 6-1 and ground in the Central Division wild-card, now a full eight points back of the second wild-card spot in the West with just two games in hand.

The teams next face one another on March 10 at Xcel Energy Center.
