The Philadelphia Catholic League has an amazing finish

Just call it ‘Pandemonium at the Palestra.’ The Philadelphia Catholic League championship produced an instant class on Monday night, one that might never be matched or topped.

Roman Catholic looked to have been dealt a knockout blow with seconds left in the game before pulling off an improbable and likely iconic finish.

Kabe Goss sank a 20-footer at the buzzer to lift Roman Catholic to a 46-45 win over Archbishop Ryan. It was a fitting end to a contest that was tense from the get-go, played against the backdrop of the iconic Palestra.

With 8.6 seconds left, senior guard Ryan Everett made a three-point shot to give Archbishop Ryan a 45-44 lead, sending half of the arena into an absolute frenzy. But then Goss, with no sense of panic, took the ball up the court and made the game-winning shot with a defender’s hand right in his face.

An incredible shot for sure:

The commentary on this is perfect too. No over-talking, no cliches. Instead, simple enjoyment of an ending to a game that had all the trappings of a movie.

Everything about this is simply unforgettable.
