The New York Giants fell off greatly this season after a surprisingly successful 2022 campaign, and they could fall off even more this fall.

Saquon Barkley, their star running back and their only bona fide threat on offense, will become a free agent once business opens across the NFL this offseason, and if the Giants don’t meet his demands, he could leave.

Pro Football Focus asked where the best landing spot for him would be.

A few fans pegged the young and ascendent Houston Texans as a great match for Barkley.

A couple of fans feel the Los Angeles Chargers, who have a new head coach in Jim Harbaugh and likely a new offensive philosophy, would be great for Barkley.

Barkley has been injury-prone over the years, but he appeared in 14 games this season and ran for 962 yards while scoring a total of 10 touchdowns from scrimmage.

At age 27, he should have a few very good years left in him, as long as he avoids any major injuries.

In six pro seasons, he has gone over 1,000 rushing yards three times, and he was named to the Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2018 and again in 2022.

The big potential problem for Barkley is the fact that the market for running backs, even star running backs like him, has cratered.

He was planning on holding out of training camp this past summer in the hopes of securing a lucrative extension, but he ended up reporting to camp and playing on the Giants’ non-exclusive franchise tag.

If he leaves this offseason, they could be in for a very long and painful rebuilding process.
