The Tampa Bay Buccaneers failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension with Mike Evans, perhaps the greatest wide receiver in franchise history.

Evans had already made it loud and clear that as much as he would love to stay in Tampa for the remainder of his career, he would take his talents somewhere else if they didn’t value him or want to pay him.

And now that it seems like that’s going to be the case, he should have no shortage of potential suitors for his services.

Considering that, former NFL player Willie Colon suggested the Houston Texans should make a run at him.

Talking on The Carton Show, he explained that the Texans have a bright future and a lot of money to spend, not to mention a big need for more talent at the wide receiver position and a promising quarterback:

“If you’re Mike Evans, you might wanna be a Texan. Head to Texas,” he said.

On top of that, Evans is a Texas native and went to college at Texas A&M, so it would make a lot of sense for him to come home.

The Texans figure to be a problem for years to come.

They won the AFC South Division in DeMeco Ryans’ first year on the job, and they should only get better as a young team.

Adding a veteran and proven player like Evans could take their offense to a whole new level, and if the Bucs don’t want to make a long-term commitment to him, another team would be more than glad to do it.
