When the Kansas City Chiefs traded star wide receiver Tyreek Hill prior to the 2022 season, many felt they had gone out of the business of being an NFL heavyweight.

Hill was sent to the Miami Dolphins, where he lifted his individual game to ever greater heights and became arguably the best in the game at his position.

But the Chiefs have now won two Super Bowl championships since the trade, and therefore, that trade isn’t looking quite as bad or lopsided as it seemed at the time.

In fact, Dov Kleiman pointed out that the five draft picks they got for Hill have turned into useful players.

While Keondre Coburn and Darian Kinnard haven’t done much, the other players Kansas City received have been keys to their success.

Trent McDuffie was the No. 21 pick in the 2022 draft by Kansas City, and this season, he was named to the All-Pro First-Team while posting seven passes defended, five forced fumbles, and nine quarterback hits.

McDuffie started all 16 regular-season games he appeared in this year, and he had three tackles, three passes defended, and two QB hits in Sunday’s Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Skyy Moore and Rashee Rice are part of a young cadre of wide receivers for the Chiefs that had to grow up fast this season.

Moore had 21 catches for 244 yards and a touchdown in the regular season, while Rice appears to be their next star, as he caught 79 balls for 938 yards and seven touchdowns.

In Sunday’s Super Bowl, Rice had six receptions for 39 yards, including a key third-down conversion in overtime that put his team in 49ers territory.
