Spain’s Grupo Hidalgo acquires new poultry and turkey meats site

Spanish fresh and processed meats producer Grupo Hidalgo has purchased a new warehouse facility in the central region of Castile-La Mancha.

Financial details of the acquisition have not been revealed.

Hidalgo bought the site from national poultry peer Grupo Uvesa, Sergio Herrera, deputy production director for the group’s Granja Gourmet brand told Just Food..

The 3,500 square metre plant will be dedicated to producing the Granja Gourmet processed chicken and turkey products, he added.

In a statement on LinkedIn, Herrera said the warehouse would allow for the provision of “a more complete service to our current customers and monopolise new projects with greater service capacity.”

Just Food has asked the company to confirm how many new jobs the new facility will create as well as when it expects it to be operational.
